Embarking on a new adventure

Introducing Scottish Rogue, the new project from John McGuire and Neill Murphy aka A Scot on Scotch.

Later this year, in October, I’ll celebrate ten years of writing this blog. I certainly hoped it would become a long term project but I’m not sure I could really have envisioned quite how true that would be. Here we are, ten years later, growing and expanding and embarking on new adventures.

Writing about whisky remains a favourite pastime but the last few years have had me yearning for more. My role as Kinship Host for the Islay Whisky Academy introduced me to the joys of hosting and the idea of doing that more often has been bubbling away for a while. A conversation with a like-minded friend, who found himself looking for a new opportunity, lit the blue touch paper and Scottish Rogue was born…

A Glasgow whisky experience

Scottish Rogue are Glasgow-based curators of whisky experiences. We are Neill Murphy and John Mcguire and we run distillery tours, tastings, Pub Crawl Walking Tours and other bespoke whisky experiences in and around the city of Glasgow. We are fiercely passionate about Scotch whisky, Scotland and our home town.

Glasgow might not be the first place that springs to mind when you think of whisky but in truth, the city has a long and storied history with the national spirit and that’s a tale we really want to tell. Our Scottish Rogue events delve into the history of Glasgow’s whisky whilst simultaneously spotlighting the distilleries, brands, shops, bars and restaurants that make the city such a great destination for whisky lovers.

Our core experiences include trips to distilleries in the Glasgow area, a walking tour of the city that stops at great whisky bars and whisky tasting events that take place both online and in interesting venues throughout the city. We can also create bespoke events to our guests specific needs.
